These were my 10 most “liked” looks of 2016 on Instagram and with a new year and new fashion upon us, I wanted to ‘dissect’ what items will stay in rotation and which will be retired.
July 16, 2016:
Chambray shirt, mod skirt, naked heels
It is safe to say if I had to choose 1 type of going out shoe to rock over and over again, it would be the naked sandal. Every color, every material, I’m obsessed.
Chambray shirts have had a pretty consistent presence and I don’t plan on hanging mine up anytime soon. I like the versatility of being able to wear it for a casual look or as pictured for a cool girl going out look.
This skirt is something I can’t see putting into my regular rotation but I’ll def hold onto it. The mod look goes in and out and stripes and muted colors are always in.
July 25, 2016:
Stripes, culottes, pale pink
Stripes are present in some form almost every season and for valid reason, they are flattering (in the correct direction and proportion) and add visual interest for those of us who aren’t that into color or print.
Culottes are a personal preference I cannot get enough of. Who knows if I’ll get over them eventually but until that day comes, bring on the freakin’ culottes!
I am someone who prefers neutrals and rarely wears color but when I do, I usually introduce it into my looks with accessories. I actually prefer bright pops but this pale pink works for Spring and Summer and I’ll def continue to sprinkle this bag into my warm weather looks this year.
August 30, 2016:
Crop tops, designer belts
Crop tops and bra tops aren’t going anywhere for the next little while so I think if you are confident to rock it, do the damn thing!
This simplistic style of designer belt is a great investment and can really elevate a look. Loving the Gucci belts…
October 6, 2016:
Absolutely loved the lace up sweater “trend” and I know lace up will trickle into Spring. But I’m not completely lusting anymore. Actually I’m kinda over it… for now.
November 3, 2016:
I have never been one to stray far from my heels but since becoming pregnant, I get the appeal of kicks and I like that I can find monochromic sneakers that mesh with my neutral color palette. Also fun to rock Adidas again like I’m me 15 years ago.
November 15, 2016 and December 3, 2016:
All grey or all black, I mean I think it’s pretty self explanatory that you cannot go wrong with a monochromatic look. Chic af.
November 24, 2016 and December 13, 2016:
Camel coats, “trend” bags
Camel coats have been synonymous with closet must haves forever and there is a reason, they elevate.
Some bags are coined classics and others trends and although it is easy to know which is which, I think this classification should be in the eye of the beholder. I am constantly asked this about my Gucci Dionysus and I think based on how often I wear it, it is clear I am dubbing this anything but a trend. The Fendi Peekaboo Wave is new to my collection so it is hard to say BUT the ruffle trend is going strong and I love that I am able to incorporate that into my accessories.
November 28, 2016:
Probably my favorite neutral color, army green especially in jacket form is something I’ll always have in my wardrobe. I feel like it is on par with a chambray shirt. Through it on for a casual look or give off cool girl vibes when going out.
And there you have it, your 2016 fashion picks in a nutshell. Looking forward to Spring 2017 and make sure to check back for the Spring trends we’ve been eyeing. xo
