Nearing the end of my pregnancy and Kelly (my brand manager) having entered into the halfway point of her pregnancy, we thought it’d be fun to share our favourite pregnancy looks and why we love them so much.
Being petite fashion chicks, we normally tend to favour oversized pieces, however, pregnancy threw us a curve ball when we started showing and oversized just accentuated all the wrong things. So how to conquer the bump, by accentuating it with the proper proportions!
So here are 4 looks that can carry you through your pregnancy and honestly, they are all looks that are totally wearable sans bump. 1. Fitted dress and cropped jacket 2. Distressed jeans and dress shirt 3. Jumpsuit and oversized coat 4. Leather leggings and long blazer
The fitted midi dress for pregnancy a la Kim Kardashian is simple yet genius. It draws attentions to the bump, boobs and bum, without looking inappropriate. And by throwing on a cropped moto jacket, this look is totally day time appropriate with some kicks. And serious bonus, you do not need to buy these dresses from a maternity site, just size up, which means more options, less cost and you can wear them apres pregnancy.
The classic jeans and a button down apply to pregnancy by simply finding the right fit, proportions and fabric. The denim could be a skinny or a boyfriend cut, whatever makes you feel amazing. The shirt should have a slight stretch fabric that covers the belly without being oversized. Pair with a blazer and flats for a day look or a moto jacket and a cute heel for a night out.
For a full proof evening look, explore a jumpsuit, playsuit or romper. The one I love has a culotte bottom and is made of a stretch fabric with a micro rib. I wear this piece when I am not pregnant and I love it but during pregnancy, I next level love it. It shows off the bump and boobs in such a sexy way but I don’t feel too exposed and doesn’t hurt that it is a super comfortable piece. Pair with an oversized jacket and some fun heels and you are good to go mama!
And last but not least, leather leggings are easily accessible for us preggo ladies and are chic yet comfy. For a really cool day look, I pired them with a band tee that covers yet hugs the bump and paired it back to my favourite slightly oversized, long blazer. That way my bum isn’t too exposed and I look polished. For day time, wear kicks and if you want to wear this out to dinner after work, throw on a pair of pumps.
So there you have it, after 9 months, it is fun to look back and share what I really felt good in during my pregnancy and even better, all of these looks will translate perfectly into my post baby fashion arsenal. xo
